NM Livestock Board (new secret powers?)

e: ... like FSMA 2011 is to FDA ... New Mexico Livestock Board must have gotten some new secret powers ...

[ap story]
Officials: NM ranch had 1,000 emaciated cattle [lie; cattle still there]
may 24, 2013

The Albuquerque Journal reports that New Mexico Livestock Board officials served a search warrant at the sprawling Double V Ranch on May 17 and found at least 25 dead animals and many others at risk of starving to death.

The owner, Richard Evans, has been charged with 25 counts of cruelty to animals.

If a judge orders the seizure [1000 head of cattle], officials say the case would mark the first large herd seized by the Livestock Board.

e: ... if a dead cow carcass can get you charged with cruelty to animals then every rancher in the state is at risk for arrest ... and all their livestock is at risk of seizure by the state ...

... this is going to get ugly fast.
