Officials on the look-out for animal code violations
mar 28, 2013

Dog catchers [ACSOs] and Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies hit the streets in Bernalillo County’s South Valley Thursday afternoon looking for animal code violations that might lead them to more serious problems.

Usually when we go in on the animal violations we tend to find that domestic violence has been going on in the house – gang activity, drug activity,” said Lt. Andi Taylor. [warrantless entry, (violation of fourth amendment)]

“We’re not here to punish people,” said county Animal Care  [ppp?] chief Matt Pepper. [BCS is there for enforcement; ACS is there for assessment]

“We’re here to make sure that everyone’s lives are better – the animals and the people we share our community with.”

Just warnings and advice  – no fines. [yet]

animal control (part 2)
dec 7, 2012

County residents no longer can keep their dogs on a "cable trolley" and must get a microchip implant for their dogs and cats.

Matt Pepper of the Bernalillo County Animal Care Services says animal control officers actively will be enforcing the ordinance.
