minimum wage
... at 8.50 x 8 = 68 ... take home is what? 57?
... so after all day's work you are ahead $20 ... assuming you can stick to the outlined budget and live alone.
... and how far does $20 get you now days? ... a gallon of milk and a box of cookies nearby me is $9 ... while a six pack of beer and a pack of cigs will cost you $15.
... this economy is being held together by a $20 thread ... and falling ... mandatory health insurance begins jan 2014.

don't get sick, don't break down, don't get injured, don't move, don't quit, don't make a mistake, don't forget, don't get old, don't make plans, don't ask why, don't miss work, don't fight it, ... you cannot afford it.
you are poor.

[update ]
mar 20, 2013
this analysis is wrong ... it assumes that the individual works 7 days per week ... whereas most people work 5 days per week ... and the new trend is towards 32 hour weeks ... with only part-time workers ... so as to avoid paying health insurance ...
... the individual earning minimum wage is already underwater.
