On Monday [apr 15, 2013], a judge ordered Clopton to pay $20 per dog, per day [if she wants to get them back] unless she agrees to surrender them so they can be adopted out. That amounts to $900 per day, backdated to April 2, so she currently owes more than $12,000.

48 dogs were seized from Debra Clopton’s Edgewood property on April 1. Three of the dogs were later put down. Clopton now faces animal abuse charges.

Monday, a judge ordered Clopton to pay $20 per dog, per day [if she wants to get them back] unless she agrees to surrender them so they can be adopted out.

Clopton has 15 days to pay; charges will keep mounting until then [if she wants to get them back]. If she doesn't pay, the dogs will be turned over to Santa Fe county.
